How-To: Use Bulk Lister - Shipping Costs
Shipping Costs Overview
From the Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Postage Setup page, you define what your Locations/Regions are. For example, the default Locations/Regions will be "Domestic", which will be set to your own country, and "Everywhere Else", which includes all other countries. However, you can create additional Locations/Regions, such as "Canada", "Europe", etc. which contain the specific countries you list within.
Once your Locations/Regions are set up, you can create one or more shipping options from your Default Listing Settings (Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Default Listing Settings), as well as each individual listing:
- HipStamp.com/members/tools/prefilled-fields
- HipComic.com/members/tools/prefilled-fields
- HipPostcard.com/members/tools/prefilled-fields
Each shipping option will allow you to enter the cost to ship the item, the cost to ship the item as an additional item (e.g.: Charge $2.00 for the first item and $0.10 for each additional), the name of your shipping option (ie: First Class Mail) and the Locations/Regions which the option is available in.
Bulk Lister Shipping Costs (Basic)
The easiest way to set your shipping costs when using the Bulk Lister is to omit shipping costs from your CSV file entirely which will then default to your Postage settings as defined in your Default Listing Settings from the Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Default Listing Settings page.
If you want to update these settings, please visit the applicable page above before using the Bulk Lister.
Bulk Lister Shipping Costs (Advanced)
When using the Bulk Lister, if you need to include different shipping costs for your listings other than your default setting as specified on the Default Listing Settings page (Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Default Listing Settings page), you can accomplish this by adding your custom postage fields to your Bulk Lister CSV file. Your custom postage fields are based upon the options you make available in Default Listing Settings (Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Default Listing Settings), and allow you to set the per item and per additional item costs for each listing. To use this feature:
Step 1 - Review the Default Listing Settings
First, ensure that your Locations/Regions are set to those which you want to be available for use within the Bulk Lister. You can review these settings from the Postage Setup Page (Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Postage Setup page). Once you confirm your Locations/Regions, ensure that you have appropriate options set within the Default Listing Settings Page (Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Default Listing Settings). The per item, and per additional shipping items costs themselves are not important, as you will overwrite these within your Bulk Lister CSV file. However, you will need to ensure that you have the appropriate Options to Locations/Regions set up.
Example:
For example, if you want to offer shipping to the United States, Canada, and Everywhere Else, and you want to offer a First Call Mail and Priority Mail option - and you want the per item, and per additional item rates to be different for different items within your Bulk Lister CSV file, the first step would be to ensure you have "Domestic" (or United States), "Canada", and "Everywhere Else" set up from within the Postage Setup Page (Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Postage Setup). Next, on the Default Listing Settings page (Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Default Listing Settings), you would want to add 6 rows to your default Postage settings. Here's an example of what those 6 rows could look like:
Step 2 - Review Your Custom Postage Fields
From the Bulk Lister > Fields page, scroll to the bottom of the page and look for your custom postage fields. Each of these fields will start "postage_", and correspond directly to one of the rows within your Default Listing Settings (Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Default Listing Settings). There will be two options per row, one for the per-item shipping cost (e.g. 2.00 above), and one for the per additional item shipping cost (e.g. 0.10 above).
Example:
Following the above example, you should expect to see the following custom postage fields:
- postage_01_domestic_first_class_mail
- postage_01_domestic_first_class_mail_addl
- postage_02_canada_first_class_mail
- postage_02_canada_first_class_mail_addl
- postage_03_everywhere_else_first_class_mail
- postage_03_everywhere_else_first_class_mail_addl
- postage_04_domestic_priority_mail
- postage_04_domestic_priority_mail_addl
- postage_05_canada_priority_mail
- postage_05_canada_priority_mail_addl
- postage_06_everywhere_else_priority_mail
- postage_06_everywhere_else_priority_mail_addl
Step 3 - Add the Fields to Your Bulk Lister CSV File
Add each of the Custom Postage Fields as columns within your Bulk Lister CSV File. Or alternatively, you can download the "All Fields (Expert)" Bulk Lister CSV template. Keep in mind that any Custom Postage Fields you do not enter into your Bulk Lister CSV File will still be applied to your listings, but the default per item, and per additional item costs, as defined on the Default Listing Settings page (Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Default Listing Settings) will be used.
Step 4 - Fill Out the Fields
Within the Bulk Lister CSV File, after you add a column for each of the Custom Postage Fields, fill out the value for the per item, and per additional item costs respectively for each row within your Bulk Lister CSV File.
Additional Notes
Custom Postage Fields are Not Map-able
When using the Bulk Lister, normally you can map any column within your CSV file to our own columns. Such that your "Title" field can be our "name" field. However, because Custom Postage Fields are custom to yourself, and based upon specific settings you set within the Members Area > Selling > Seller Tools > Default Listing Settings page, these fields can not be mapped. More specifically, to use these fields they must have the exact names as specified on the Bulk Lister > Fields page within your Bulk Lister CSV file (column headings).
